CPCSC

Cyber security certification for defence suppliers in Canada

Update:
On March 12, 2025, the Government of Canada officially initiated the first phase of the Canadian Program for Cyber Security Compliance (CPCSC). This initial stage introduces a new Canadian industrial security standard, marking a significant step toward enhancing the country's cyber resilience. Additionally, it establishes an accreditation ecosystem that aims to streamline security approvals for businesses working within the defence sector. As part of this phase, a pilot program has been launched, allowing select defence contracts to undergo self-assessment as a means of evaluating compliance processes. The primary objective of this early rollout is to provide businesses with the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the program’s requirements and framework before it is expanded on a broader scale later in 2025. By implementing this phased approach, the government seeks to ensure a smooth transition for industries adapting to the new security measures while reinforcing national defence and cybersecurity protocols.
